About the Family Support Center

For families of students with disabilities, finding the right resources and support can be a challenge. That’s why we want to spotlight the Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Department of Special Education Family Support Center. With more than 13,000 students in PGCPS with special education needs, the Family Support Center is committed to helping students with disabilities and their families thrive.

Their Mission

The Family Support Center’s mission is to provide information about disabilities, increase awareness of community services, assist families in resolving concerns, connect parents with resources needed to make informed educational decisions and strengthen collaborative relationships with community partners.

How the Family Support Center Can Help You

The Family Support Center offers a variety of resources and exciting events throughout the year.  Join their monthly Parenting Support Group, get help with your child’s annual review, access their Lending Library and so much more. This past April, they hosted their first annual Autism Summit: Collaborative Conversations. Last month, they wrapped up their 12th Annual Parent Empowerment Conference. For this three-month long series, they brought in experts across a wide number of topics from coping skills to holistic parenting to testing, reports, and accommodations. These resources and events offer a chance for families to connect with one another, access valuable information, learn new skills, and have some fun. We are proud to have such a dedicated and caring partner in our community!

Check out all of the resources on the Family Support Center’s website or their newly launched Special Education Parents’ Page to see how they can help you and your family!
